Best Practices for Effective Change Requests

When submitting change requests, it is essential to provide accurate and detailed information to ensure the stability and success of the requested changes. As your product line experts, your participation and specific details play a crucial role in implementing changes effectively. This document serves as a guide to help you submit well-defined change requests. By following these guidelines, you can facilitate smoother and more efficient change management processes.

Keep these topics in mind:

  1. Clearly Define the Change

    1. When submitting a change request, clearly state the nature of the change you are requesting. Provide a concise description of the desired modification. For example:

      • Change: Add Siding Type

  2. Impacted Styles/Areas

    1. Indicate which styles or specific elements should be impacted by the change. Clearly outline the areas or aspects of the product that need to be modified. For instance:

      • Styles Impacted: Lofted Utility

  3. Price Impact

    1. Indicate if the proposed change will have any price implications. Specify any adjustments in pricing that may be necessary due to the requested change. For example:

      • Price Impact: Charge 5% of Base

  4. Logic Constraints

    1. Take logic constraints into account when requesting changes. Analyze if there are any limitations or dependencies that may affect the feasibility or implementation of the requested modifications. For instance:

      • Consideration: If adding an 8' Loft, ensure that the building length is at least 12' to accommodate the industry standard 4' opening.

  5. Business-Specific Limitations

    1. Identify any limitations or requirements specific to your business that may impact the proposed change. Provide relevant details and specifications to ensure a thorough understanding of your unique circumstances.

Examples:

Please add Lap Siding to All Styles on my configurator. Our Lap Siding has vertical slats that are 4” wide. Lap Siding can be any painted color that we currently allow on our configurator for trim, siding and doors. The wooden door panelling does not change with Lap Siding, it remains LP Smartside which has horizontal slats (Clearly defined & impacted styles are noted). The price of the Lap Siding is 10% of Base (price impacted). When Lap Siding is Selected the building height can not be over 7' tall (logic constraint). Lap Siding is only available in my Red Region (business specific limitation).

Add lap Siding.
