IdeaRoom for Buildings Onboarding

Geography

  • Do you serve a particular region of the country? As demonstrated below, we can set up zip code collectors to set parameters according to where a structure will be built.

Style

Starting Designs

  • We use “style” as basic starting points for your building configurations. These will be shown in the menu on the right hand side of your configurator (example below). What are 4 - 8 “styles” that you would like to represent in your configurator?

Roof Type

  • What is the roof profile for each style? E.g., gable, lean, gambrel, etc.?

  • What are the roof pitch options for each style?

  • Does roof pitch vary according to size?

  • What type of roofing do you offer for each style? E.g., PBR, asphalt shingles, architectural shingles, etc.?

  • What roof overhang options do you offer? Are any roof overhangs standard for a certain style?

  • Do you offer any dormer? E.g., standard dormers, dollhouse dormers?

  • Do you offer any roof accessories such as hay hoods or widow’s peaks? Examples below:

Hay Hood

Widow’s Peak

Leans, Porches & Attachments

Starting Designs

  • We support two main attachment types: leans and gables (shown below). Both can have any wall opened to create a “porch” or a partially enclosed “run-in”. What types of attachments would you like to represent?

Lean

Gable

Attachment Options

  • Do your lean attachments have the ability to wrap around corners? This creates a hip-roof:

  • Do your lean attachments have the ability to extend from corners with a gable roof? This creates a gable pop-out:

  • Are your standard lean wraparounds able to “meet” in the middle of a sidewall? E.g., one continuous wrap?

  • Do your attachments apply only to certain building styles?

  • Are there any sides to which attachments cannot be added? E.g., “do not add leans to the gable ends of buildings”

Size

Basic Styles

  • For each style created as your starting design, please give us the available lengths, widths and heights.

  • Please report any associated changes that come along with basic size changes. For example, “Buildings over 60 feet wide have a pitch of 3/12”

Attachments

  • For each attachment you support, please give us the available lengths, widths and heights.

  • Please report any associated logic that is based on your building styles. For example, “length of attachments should never exceed the length of the main building”

Siding, Wainscot, Trim & Insulation

Siding

  • What types of siding do you offer?

  • Are their certain colors for certain siding types?

Wainscot

  • Do you offer wainscot?

Trim

  • What is the width and depth of your trim?

    • Standard Trim

    • Fascia Trim

    • Component Trim (around doors and windows)

  • Do you have any special trim options you offer?

Insulation

  • What types of insulation do you offer?

  • At what level of detail (for what parts of the building) do you allow customers to add insulation?

  • If you offer more than one type, do you allow the customer to mix more than one type in a building?

  • Can you create a discrete list of the most typical and standardized options?

Doors

  • What are the names, details and sizes of any single doors you would like to offer?

  • What are the names, details and sizes of any double doors you would like to offer?

Colors

  • What color options do you offer for the siding of your buildings?

  • Are your roof, trim, wall, and wainscot color options the same?

  • Do you allow customers to change side wall color independent from end wall color?

  • If needed, can you provide RGB/HEX values or high quality textures for your color options?

Trusses & Frame Spacing

Trusses

  • What trusses do you offer? Our options are red iron, post & beam, web steel or post frame.

  • Do your trusses vary by factors other than building width?

  • Do you allow customers to select from multiple truss options?

Frame Spacing

  • What are the available lengths that you offer between trusses?

  • Do you allow customers to select these lengths, or are they automatically tied to the size of your buildings?
