You now have the opportunity to select either Classic Layout or Modern Layout for your 3D Configurator tool! This article highlights the differences between the two so you can make the best choice for your company.

You can switch between the Classic Layout and the Modern Layout in SalesView (admin role). On the Sites tab, simply select either option in the Layout, Colors and Scene section.

Keep reading to learn about the main differences between the Classic and Modern Layout options.

For this article, the save, quote, and checkout buttons are referred to as Call To Action (CTA) buttons. CTA buttons are buttons used in the configurator to guide shopper towards the conversion goal.

Table of Contents

General Page Appearance

The exact buttons used, their labels, and dialog box fields depend on the preferred configuration for your business. For example, your button might be labeled “Buy” instead of “Checkout” or you may have only enabled certain buttons in your configurator.

Classic Layout

  • Classic has a traditional appearance with a gray background in the menu pane.

  • The design canvas on desktop includes style, size, and estimate pricing along with navigation buttons.

  • All actions take place on the home page.

 Classic Design Example

Modern Layout

  • Modern has a contemporary appearance with a white background in the menu pane.

  • There is a single CTA button displayed prominently guiding the shopper to your intent.

  • The style is streamlined and optimized for mobile devices, with navigation buttons removed and estimate info and other buttons relocated to provide more space in the design canvas.

  • A (star) NEW “Saved Buildings” page has been created to provide space to save and compare multiple designs and take the next steps.

 Modern Design Example

Note: Both versions offer realistic background scene options to add interest and visualization to the design canvas.

Workflow

Classic Layout

The Configurator home page contains up to two call-to-action (CTA) buttons from the choices of save, quote, or checkout functions. All shopper activity takes place on the home page.

When the shopper selects a CTA button on the home page…

  • If select, Save or Quote buttons, a popup dialog appears and the shopper enters contact & additional project info as needed, then selects Email Link or Submit. A Print option will also be available if enabled for your business.

  • If select, Checkout buttons, a series of dialog prompts appear for the shopper to complete, then selects Submit or Email Contract. A Print Contract option will also be available if enabled for your business.

  • On all CTA buttons, both the shopper and your business receive an automated email with diagram, specs, price, and a link to the saved design, and a new record is created in SalesView.

From the email, the shopper can

    • Start the buy process

    • Use the link to return to the design

When the shopper selects a checkout button on the home page…

This initiates the buying process for the saved design with a series of dialog prompts for the shopper to complete.

Modern Layout

The configurator home page contains one CTA button. If your configuration does not include a checkout function, the button will be a quote function.

When the shopper selects the CTA button on the home page…

  • A popup dialog appears and the shopper enters contact info & additional project info as needed, then clicks Submit. A Print option will appear as well if enabled for your business (to both print and email link).

  • The shopper and your business receive an automated email with diagram, specs, price, and a link to the saved design, and a new record is created in SalesView.

  • From the email, the shopper can

    • Start the buy process

    • Use the link to return to the design

When the shopper selects the Save to List button from the home page…

The (star) NEW Saved Buildings page has been added to hold multiple designs for review and comparison!

Shoppers can save more than one design by clicking (blue star) Save to List beneath the checkout button, which adds the design to the Saved Buildings page.

They can view their saved designs by clicking Saved Buildings in the top menu bar on the home page. The number in the heart icon shows how many designs are saved.

 Saved Buildings Page Example

Shoppers can easily move back and forth between the Saved Buildings page and the Home page to save multiple designs for comparison and quotes.

For the designs on the Saved Buildings page, up to three CTA buttons can be provided, typically quote and checkout functions to get a quote or begin the buying process are utilized. A sharing button is also provided, plus an option to remove the design.

The quote and checkout buttons function in the same way as described for the Modern home page buttons described above.

Note: When a design on the Saved Buildings page is submitted using one of the CTA buttons, it is removed from the Saved Buildings page.

(star) NEW OPTION to capture soft leads

Modern Layout adds an option to capture soft leads when the shopper selects (blue star) Save to List. You can configure your site in SalesView to capture leads via a quick popup to get a contact name plus email or phone when each design is saved.

The contact info dialog generates an email to your business plus an email or text to the shopper, and creates a SalesView record. Emails contain a welcome message which includes the URL link to access the design. Texts contain only the URL.

(This is optional! If you prefer, you can skip the feature and capture contact information via the Saved Buildings page.)

Access to Saved Design(s) for the Shopper

Classic Layout

The shopper clicks the link in the email to return to the saved design which is pre-loaded in the Configurator.

  • Edit and re-save the existing design to create a new design.

  • Reset the design space via the Reset button, and then create and save a new design.

Modern Layout

The shopper uses the link in the email or text to return to the saved design which is pre-loaded in the Configurator home page.

From here the shopper can do any of the following actions:

  • Request for a quote or start the checkout process. This will depend on the available CTA buttons.

  • Edit and re-save the design to create a new design that will appear on the Saved Buildings page.

Access to Saved Design(s) for Your Business

Classic Layout

You can create and save multiple designs on behalf of a customer.

  • Each time a design is saved on the home page, the shopper and your business receive an automated email with diagram, specs, price, and a link to the saved design. A new record is created in SalesView.

  • To return to the design, simply click the URL from the email or from SalesView.

Modern Layout

You can design and save multiple designs on behalf of a customer, and then view and compare them on the new Saved Buildings page. You can also edit the design titles to give them memorable names!

  • When a design is saved using Save to List, the design will be saved in the Saved Buildings page.

  • The design in your Saved Buildings page will remain in your list until you, submit the design using one of the CTA buttons or until you manually remove the design from your Saved Buildings page.

  • (The design can also be printed if you asked IdeaRoom to enable the option and are signed in via Sales Login.)

If the optional information capture dialog is enabled via SalesView:

  • You have a “soft lead” capture:

Texts contain only the URL.

  • You can submit each desired design from the Saved Buildings page:
Each submit action in the Saved Buildings page will save the design, generate an email with design link and specs to your business, and create a deal in SalesView. (The design can also be printed if you asked IdeaRoom to enable the option and are signed in via Sales Login.)
